Achieving Multilevel Cybersecurity in Solar PV Systems DOE Solar Energy Technology Office (SETO)
Led by the University of Arkansas under a U.S. Department of Energy Solar Energy Technologies Office (SETO) effort, this project brought together universities, national labs, and industry to harden grid-connected solar inverters against growing threats. This team’s approach was to address PV system cybersecurity at both the inverter and system level by redesigning control hardware, validating firmware behavior in real time, and testing the resulting solutions on an operating solar installation to ensure efficient, field ready protection.
